BTC/USDT: $82,309 on the 1H chart. Bitcoin slipped back to the $82K area after AI stocks sold off and oil rose. Price is now pressing the lower volatility bands after rejecting the 48h high at $84,875, and the 48h low of $81,280 sits about $1,000 below current price.
The 1H trend is clearly down, but several oscillators are at extremes that rarely last long. Today’s plan comes down to where to buy the range low and where to fade a bounce. This is analysis, not financial advice. Size your positions to your own risk tolerance.
Indicator Analysis
Moving Averages
Price trades below all three key averages: MA20 at $83,792.9, MA60 at $82,869.5 and MA120 at $82,336.2. The stack is still bullish (MA20 above MA60 above MA120), which tells us the drop is a pullback inside a broader up-leg. Price has just slipped under the MA120. An hourly close back above $82,336 would be the first sign the dip is being absorbed.
→ Bullish stack, bearish price location. The MA120 at ~$82.3K is today’s line in the sand.
RSI (14)
RSI sits at 15.9, deep in oversold territory and well below the usual 30 threshold. Readings this low on the hourly usually come before a reflex bounce, though in strong trends RSI can stay pinned for several candles. The ADX at 53.0 confirms a strong trend, so oversold alone is not a buy trigger.
→ Extreme oversold. Bounce odds are rising, but wait for RSI to reclaim 30 before leaning long aggressively.
MACD
The histogram is -269.5 and below the zero line, and downside momentum is holding or building. Sellers have not lost control yet, and there is no bullish divergence on the histogram so far.
→ Momentum still favors the bears. A shrinking histogram would be the first cue to cover shorts.
Williams %R
Williams %R reads -97.1, essentially at the floor of its range. Price is closing near the bottom of its recent high-low span, which fits capitulation-style selling. Moves out of the -80 to -100 zone tend to be sharp when they come.
→ Fully oversold. Watch for a cross back above -80 as an early long trigger.
ATR (14)
ATR is $434.6, or 0.53% of price. Hourly volatility is moderate despite the trend strength. That allows stops of roughly 1.5 to 3 ATR ($650 to $1,300) without being reckless.
→ Use ~$435 as the unit for stops and targets. Avoid stops tighter than one ATR.
CCI (20)
CCI is at -137.0, beyond the -100 oversold line but not at blow-off extremes like -200. That is consistent with an orderly, trending decline rather than a liquidation cascade.
→ Oversold but controlled. More downside room exists before a true washout reading.
Stochastic
%K is 2.9 and %D is 3.9, near the absolute bottom of the scale. %K is still below %D, so no bullish crossover has printed. Once %K turns up through %D from this depth, short-term bounces of one to two ATR are common.
→ Wait for the %K/%D bullish cross. It is the cleanest timing signal for a long scalp.
Keltner Channel
The Keltner mid is $83,343.5, the upper band is $84,241.6 and the lower band is $82,445.5. Price at $82,309 has dipped slightly below the lower band. Bollinger agrees: the lower band is at $82,172.1, the bands are widening (3.87% width), and price is hugging the lower edge. Trading outside the channel often snaps back toward the midline, but widening bands also mean the trend can walk the band lower.
→ Stretched below the channel. A mean reversion target sits at the $83.3K midline.

On-Chain & Positioning
Active address, stablecoin supply and hashrate figures are not in today’s data feed, so I am leaving them out rather than guessing. On-balance volume is the useful proxy here. OBV has risen over the last 24h, adding about 21,758 BTC, while price fell. Buyers are absorbing supply on the way down. MFI at 9.2 shows money flow is extremely oversold.

- Funding rate: -0.0012%. Funding has turned slightly negative, so shorts are now paying longs. Crowded long leverage has been flushed.
- Long/short ratio: 1.45, with 59.2% of accounts long. Retail still tilts long, but less than before, which reduces the fuel for a long squeeze.
- Open interest: -2.07% over 24h. Price fell while OI dropped, which points to deleveraging rather than fresh aggressive shorting.
- Fear & Greed: 68 (Greed), up from 63. Sentiment is warmer than the chart suggests, which argues against chasing breakouts above $85K.
On the macro side, the S&P 500 gained 0.28% while the Nasdaq was flat at -0.02%. The dollar index eased 0.22% to 101.51, gold fell 1.02%, and the US 10-year yield sits at 5.12%. That high-rate backdrop is behind the high-rates-as-the-new-normal headlines testing Bitcoin. The Korean premium is a modest 0.68%, so there is no sign of local overheating.
Today’s Position Strategy
LONG Setup (Primary)
| Entry Zone | Target 1 | Target 2 | Stop |
|---|---|---|---|
| $80,500 – $81,300 | $83,350 | $84,500 | $79,700 |
The long is primary because oscillators are at extremes (RSI 15.9, Stochastic 2.9, Williams %R -97.1) and leverage has been cleaned out through negative funding and falling OI. OBV accumulation and ETF spot inflows support the lows. The entry zone sits on the 48h low ($81,280) and the $80.5K support. Target 1 is the Keltner midline, and Target 2 sits just under the $84.5K to $85K resistance. The stop is placed below the 7-day low of $79,732, because losing $79.8K opens room for a broader downside extension.
SHORT Setup (Secondary)
| Entry Zone | Target 1 | Target 2 | Stop |
|---|---|---|---|
| $83,400 – $83,800 | $82,450 | $81,300 | $84,350 |
The short is a counter-bounce trade only. The trend is strong (ADX 53.0), price is below the Ichimoku cloud, and the Tenkan is below the Kijun, so a relief rally into the cloud top ($83,450), the 24h VWAP ($83,781) and the MA20 ($83,793) is likely to meet supply. The stop sits just above the Keltner upper band. Do not short at the current price into extreme oversold readings. Wait for the bounce to reach the zone.
Fee-payback signup links for BingX and Bitunix are at the end of this post if you want to cut trading costs on setups like these.
Conclusion: The 1H trend is down but stretched, so buy $80.5K to $81.3K with a stop under $79.7K, and only fade strength at $83.4K to $83.8K.
