BTC is trading at $80,436.9 on the 1H chart. It sits just above the $80,000 psychological level after a 48-hour range of $79,178.6 to $82,035.3. The bigger picture is still bearish: price is below all major moving averages, and the 7-day high of $84,875.2 is now well overhead.

Indicator Analysis
Moving Averages
The moving averages are in full bearish alignment. MA20 is at 80,551.7, MA60 at 81,189.2 and MA120 at 82,026.1, and price sits below all three. MA20 is only about 0.14% above price, so it is the first ceiling. MA120 lines up almost exactly with the 48-hour high near 82,000, which makes that level a strong resistance cluster.
→ Trend structure favors sellers until price reclaims MA60 at 81,189.
RSI
RSI(14) is at 44.3, below the 50 midline but far from oversold. Buyers have not taken control, and sellers still have room to push before the indicator flags exhaustion.
→ Neutral-to-weak reading that does not justify chasing longs.
MACD
The MACD histogram is positive at 39.4, and upside momentum is strengthening. However, the lines are still below the zero line. This is a typical relief-bounce profile inside a downtrend rather than a confirmed reversal.
→ Short-term bounce momentum exists, but it is a counter-trend move until MACD crosses zero.
Williams %R
Williams %R reads -23.2, close to the -20 overbought threshold. The bounce has pushed price toward the top of its recent short-term range. That zone is often where rallies in a bearish structure lose steam.
→ Upside room on this bounce looks limited.
ATR
ATR(14) is $369.2, or 0.46% of price, which is moderate hourly volatility. ADX at 47.5 confirms a strong trending environment. Volatility can expand quickly if the $80,000 floor gives way. Stops tighter than about one ATR are likely to get clipped by noise.
→ Use roughly 1.5 to 2 ATR ($550 to $740) as a minimum stop buffer.
CCI
CCI(20) sits at -40.8, mildly negative and inside the neutral band. It agrees with RSI: there is a bearish tilt without any extreme reading that would signal a snap-back.
→ Mild downside bias, no oversold signal.
Stochastic
Stochastic %K is 76.8 and %D is 76.0, approaching the 80 overbought area with the lines nearly flat. A bearish cross from here would line up with the Williams %R signal and mark the end of this bounce.
→ Watch for a %K/%D cross down near 80 as a short trigger.
Keltner Channel
Price is below the Keltner midline of 80,579.9. The upper band is at 81,446.2 and the lower band at 79,713.6. Bollinger Bands tell a similar story: price is below the 80,551.7 midline, and the 1.41% width is normal. On Ichimoku, price sits inside the cloud (80,161 to 80,607), which signals indecision. The tenkan is below the kijun.
→ The 81,450 to 82,000 zone is the natural short area, and 79,700 is the first downside magnet.

On-Chain & Positioning
On-chain readings for active addresses, stablecoin supply and hashrate were not available in today’s dataset, so this section focuses on volume and derivatives positioning. OBV is falling over the past 24 hours, down 36,195 BTC, which points to distribution. MFI at 38.7 confirms that money flow is leaning out of the market. Price is holding 0.08% above the 24h VWAP of 80,375.6, so intraday buyers are barely defending the average.

- Funding rate: +0.0062%. Longs are still paying shorts, even after the pullback.
- Long/short ratio: 2.16, with 68.4% of accounts long. Crowd positioning is heavily one-sided.
- Open interest: +4.33% in 24 hours while price fell. New leverage is entering on the way down, mostly from longs trying to buy the dip.
- Fear & Greed: 51 (Neutral), up from 50. Sentiment is not frightened enough to mark a bottom.
This combination is the main reason for a short bias. Open interest is rising into weakness, the crowd is long and funding is positive. If weekend geopolitical headlines hit, there is fuel for a cascade of long liquidations below $80,000.
The macro backdrop also offers little support:
- The S&P 500 fell 0.52% and the Nasdaq slipped 0.21%.
- The dollar index rose 0.2% to 101.81.
- The US 10-year yield is at 4.99%.
On the domestic side, the Korean premium is a modest 1.35%. ETF inflows of around $1 billion failed to spark a rebound, according to headlines, which is itself a warning sign.
Today’s Position Strategy
SHORT Setup (Primary)
| Item | Level |
|---|---|
| Entry zone | $81,450 – $82,000 (rejection at Keltner upper / MA120 / 48h high) |
| Target 1 | $80,000 |
| Target 2 | $79,180 (48h and 7d swing low) |
| Target 3 | $78,000 |
| Stop | $82,800 (48h high + ~2 ATR) |
Several signals point to shorts as the primary side:
- The bearish moving-average alignment and a strong ADX trend.
- Distribution on OBV.
- A crowded long book that is still paying funding.
Waiting for a bounce into the 81,450 to 82,000 cluster gives a much better risk/reward than shorting at current prices inside the Ichimoku cloud. Swing traders who want room for headline wicks can place the stop above $84,000 instead, but should cut position size to match.
LONG Setup (Secondary, counter-trend)
| Item | Level |
|---|---|
| Entry zone | $79,200 – $79,700 (swing low to Keltner lower band) |
| Target 1 | $80,550 (MA20 / Bollinger mid) |
| Target 2 | $81,190 (MA60) |
| Stop | $78,650 (below 79,178 swing low by ~1.5 ATR) |
This is only a tactical bounce trade off the established 79,178 low, where the positive MACD histogram could produce a second leg up. Take profits quickly at the moving averages. A clean break below the swing low opens the path to $78,000, so the stop is not optional.
For altcoins, ETH/BTC weakness means ETH carries more downside beta than BTC. Key ETH levels are support at $2,300, then $2,250, with resistance at $2,410. Arthur Hayes’s reported altcoin selling adds to that pressure.

Conclusion: fade bounces into $81,450-$82,000 with shorts while crowded longs and rising open interest keep $80,000 at risk.
