Bitcoin is trading at $76,758 on the 1-hour chart. It sits just above the 48-hour low of $76,668 and below every major moving average after failing to hold the $78,853 swing high. The 7-day range runs from $81,954 down to $76,270. Price is now pressing into the lower part of that range while retail longs keep adding exposure.

Indicator Analysis
Moving Averages
Price is below the MA20 ($77,760), the MA60 ($77,783) and the MA120 ($78,208). The averages are in bearish order, with the short MA under the long MA. The MA20 and MA60 sit almost on top of each other around $77,760–77,780, which creates a dense resistance shelf about 1.3% above spot. Until price closes back above that cluster, rallies are more likely to be sold than extended.
→ Bearish structure. $77,760–78,200 is the first resistance zone.
RSI (14)
RSI is at 16.3, deep in oversold territory and far below the usual 30 threshold. A reading this low shows a stretched short-term selloff. It does not show a confirmed bottom, because strong trends can stay oversold for several candles. It does mean that chasing shorts at current prices offers poor risk/reward.
→ Extremely oversold, so expect a relief bounce before the next leg.
MACD
The histogram is at -137.8 and below the zero line, so momentum is still negative overall. However, the histogram is turning upward, which means downside momentum is fading rather than accelerating. That fits the idea of a technical bounce inside a downtrend, not a trend reversal.
→ Bearish momentum is weakening. Watch for a bounce into resistance.
Williams %R
Williams %R reads -94.7, almost at the bottom of its range. Price is closing near the lows of the recent lookback window. This agrees with the RSI and Stochastic readings.
→ Oversold. Shorts entered here face snapback risk.
ATR
ATR(14) is $438.9, or 0.57% of price. That is a moderate hourly range. Stops tighter than about one ATR are likely to be clipped by normal noise. Swing stops should sit 1–1.5 ATR beyond structure, roughly $450–650.
→ Size positions for roughly $440 hourly swings.
CCI (20)
CCI is at -142.7, well below the -100 line. Price is trading far under its statistical mean. Readings this low often come before mean reversion toward the 20-period average, which lines up with the $77,760 MA20 area.
→ Stretched to the downside. The mean-reversion target is about $77,700.
Stochastic
%K is at 5.3 and %D at 11.6, both in the oversold zone, and %K is still below %D. There is no bullish crossover yet. Until %K crosses back above %D, the bounce has not started.
→ Wait for a %K/%D cross before trusting any long.
Keltner Channel
Price is near the lower Keltner band at $76,499, with the midline at $77,527 and the upper band at $78,554. The Bollinger lower band at $76,659 sits right next to it, and the bands are widening (width 2.83%). Widening bands with price on the lower edge usually signal trend continuation, not a quick reversal.
→ $76,500 is band support. The Keltner upper band near $78,550 matches the short entry zone.

On-Chain & Positioning
No active-address or hashrate data is available for this session, so those sections are skipped. On stablecoins, the positioning read points to stablecoin outflows. That suggests less fresh dry powder on exchanges to absorb selling pressure. On-balance volume confirms it: the 24-hour OBV trend is falling, with a delta of about -38,500 BTC, which signals distribution. MFI is at 19.0, so money flow is weak. Price is also 1.33% below the 24-hour VWAP at $77,792, meaning sellers have controlled the session.

- Funding rate: 0.01%, which is neutral. It shows no extreme premium on either side.
- Long/short ratio: 2.45, with 71% of accounts long. Retail is heavily positioned for a bounce.
- Open interest: up 2.57% over 24 hours while price fell. New longs appear to be building on the way down, which leaves fuel for a long liquidation cascade if $75,000 breaks.
- Fear & Greed: 37 (Fear), up slightly from 34. Sentiment is cautious but not capitulating.
Macro conditions add pressure. The Nasdaq fell 1.07% and the S&P 500 slipped 0.51%, while gold rose 1.48%, a mild risk-off rotation. The US 10-year yield remains high at 4.89%. The Korean premium is a modest 1.32%. Headlines about North Korean hackers laundering stolen funds through Solana into Bitcoin add some headline risk, but positioning is the bigger driver today.
Today’s Position Strategy
SHORT Setup (Primary)
| Entry Zone | Target 1 | Target 2 | Stop |
|---|---|---|---|
| $77,750 – $78,500 | $76,300 | $75,000 | $79,300 |
The trend is clearly bearish. Price is under all moving averages, the Ichimoku cloud and VWAP, and ADX at 34.3 confirms a strong trend. Oversold oscillators argue against shorting at spot, so the better trade is to wait for a bounce into the MA20/Kijun/VWAP cluster up to the Keltner upper band and 78.5k resistance. The stop sits about one ATR above the $78,853 swing high. A reclaim of $80,000 fully invalidates the bearish thesis.
LONG Setup (Secondary, Counter-Trend)
| Entry Zone | Target 1 | Target 2 | Stop |
|---|---|---|---|
| $75,000 – $75,400 | $76,700 | $77,700 | $74,400 |
RSI at 16.3, Williams %R at -94.7 and CCI at -142.7 all point to stretched downside. A sweep into the $75,000 first support could trigger a sharp reflex bounce, especially if it flushes crowded longs first. Keep size small: retail is already 71% long, so the long side is the crowded trade. Only act on a clear Stochastic bullish cross, and cut quickly below $74,400. The next support below that is $73,500.
Bias today: fade bounces into $77,750–78,500 with a stop above $79,300, and treat any long near $75,000 as a quick counter-trend scalp only.
