Bitcoin Long Setup Near $82.9K as Bollinger Bands Squeeze

BTC is trading at $83,329 on the 1H chart. It is sitting almost exactly on the 0.5 Fibonacci level after a liquidation flush below $81,000 that wiped out about $800M in leveraged positions. Price has since recovered into a tight range between the $80,985 48-hour low and the $84,340 48-hour high. Bollinger Bands are now squeezed to a 1.05% width, which usually comes before a directional move.

Indicator Analysis

Moving Averages

The MAs are in bullish order: MA20 at 83,376, MA60 at 83,256 and MA120 at 82,978. Price is above the MA60 and MA120 but slightly below the MA20. The broader 1H trend structure is still intact. The short-term drift lower is testing the fastest average rather than breaking the trend.

→ The trend favors buyers as long as price holds above the MA120 near $82,980.

RSI

RSI(14) reads 35.6. Momentum is soft, but it is not in oversold territory below 30. The reading fits a pullback inside an uptrend rather than a breakdown. If RSI dips toward 30 near support, the long side becomes more attractive.

→ Momentum is weak but leaves room for a bounce. This is not a level to chase shorts.

MACD

The MACD line is above the zero line. The histogram sits at -9.8, slightly negative, but it is contracting and upward momentum is building. In practice, the bearish crossover is losing strength. A flip back to a positive histogram would confirm that the recent dip is over.

→ Watch for the histogram to turn positive as an early long trigger.

Williams %R

Williams %R is at -65.9, so price is closing in the lower part of its recent range. It has not reached the -80 oversold zone. Sellers have the near-term edge, but they are not in an extreme position.

→ Neutral-to-soft. A push toward -80 near support would sharpen a long entry.

ATR

ATR(14) is $399.5, which is 0.48% of price. Hourly volatility is compressed, consistent with the Bollinger squeeze. Low ATR allows tighter stops, but squeezes often end with a sharp candle that runs through obvious levels.

→ Use roughly 1 to 1.5 ATR ($400 to $600) as a stop buffer beyond structure.

CCI

CCI(20) is -14.6, close to the zero line. There is no meaningful overbought or oversold signal here. Price is hovering near its statistical mean, which matches the range-bound action.

→ CCI confirms balance and points to no directional bias on its own.

Stochastic

Stochastic %K is 34.1 and %D is 33.0. %K has just crossed above %D in the lower half of the range. This is a mild bullish cross. It would carry more weight if it came from below 20, but it still leans toward a near-term upturn.

→ An early bullish cross. It needs follow-through above 50 to matter.

Keltner Channel

The Keltner midline is 83,246, with the upper band at 83,967 and the lower band at 82,526. Price is holding above the midline. The upper band lines up closely with the $83.8k to $84.0k Fibonacci 0.618 resistance. The lower band sits near the Ichimoku Kijun at 82,560.

→ The $82.5k to $84.0k Keltner range defines today’s trading box.

On-Chain & Positioning

Today’s feed has no fresh readings for active addresses, stablecoin supply or hashrate, so I am not assigning a trend to those. Two flow signals are available instead:

  • Whale accumulation: large holders reportedly added 16,010 BTC over five days.
  • OBV: 24-hour OBV is rising, with a net delta of +11,763 BTC. This shows accumulation on the 1H timeframe.

Both suggest that dip buyers absorbed the liquidation cascade rather than fleeing it.

Funding rate: 0.0019%, close to flat. Longs are not paying a meaningful premium, so there is no sign of froth after the flush.

Long/short ratio: 1.28, with 56.1% of accounts long. Retail still leans long, which leaves some fuel for another downside wick if support gives way.

Open interest: -0.21% over 24 hours. After roughly $800M in liquidations, OI is basically unchanged. New leverage has not rushed back in, and the market is cleaner than before.

Fear & Greed: 57 (Greed), down from 69. The sentiment reset cooled the excess without tipping into fear.

The macro backdrop is mixed.

  • The US 10-year yield remains elevated at 5.22%, which caps risk appetite.
  • The dollar index eased 0.37% to 102.21, offering some relief.
  • The Nasdaq slipped 0.15%.
  • The Korean premium is a modest 1.4%, showing no local overheating.

Today’s Position Strategy

Several signals keep the primary bias on the long side:

  • Bullish MA alignment
  • Price above the Ichimoku cloud (cloud top 82,965)
  • Price above the 24-hour VWAP at 82,929
  • OBV accumulation
  • ADX at 24.7, showing a trend forming

The short is a secondary range trade at resistance.

LONG Setup (Primary)

Entry Zone Targets Stop
$82,550 to $82,950 T1 $83,900 / T2 $84,340 $81,950

The entry zone stacks several supports:

  • Keltner lower band (82,526)
  • Kijun (82,560)
  • Bollinger lower band (82,940)
  • 24-hour VWAP (82,929)
  • Cloud top (82,965)

The stop sits about 1.5 ATR below the Kijun, which is outside normal noise. A deeper flush toward the $81.0k liquidation low would invalidate the intraday idea, though that level could serve as a secondary swing entry. T1 is the Keltner upper band and Fibonacci 0.618 cluster. T2 is the 48-hour swing high.

SHORT Setup (Secondary)

Entry Zone Targets Stop
$83,950 to $84,300 T1 $83,250 / T2 $82,950 $84,750

The $83.8k to $84.0k Fibonacci 0.618 zone overlaps the Keltner upper band, and just above it sits the $84,340 48-hour high. That makes it the natural place to fade a range rally, especially with longs still crowded at 1.28. T1 is the Keltner midline and MA60 area. T2 is VWAP and the lower Bollinger Band. The stop is about one ATR above the swing high. A clean hourly close above $84,340 cancels the short and opens a path toward the $85,620 weekly level.

Fee-payback signup links for BingX and Bitunix are below if you want to cut trading costs on range setups like these.

Conclusion: buy the $82.5k to $82.9k support cluster with a stop under $81,950, and treat $84.0k to $84.3k as the take-profit and fade zone until a confirmed break of $84,340.
