BTC is trading at $81,995.8 on the 1H chart. It sits just below the 82k short-term pivot after failing to hold above the 20-period average. Over the last 48 hours price ranged between $80,622 and $83,157.9. Bollinger Bands are now in a squeeze at 1.71% width, so a directional expansion is building.

Indicator Analysis
Moving Averages
Price ($81,995.8) is below the MA20 ($82,341) but still above the MA60 ($81,815) and MA120 ($81,756.7). The averages remain in bullish alignment, so the broader 1H structure has not broken. The short-term average is acting as overhead resistance, and price is drifting toward the MA60/MA120 cluster around $81.8k.
→ Bullish structure, bearish short-term pressure; $81.75k–$81.8k is the line bulls must hold.
RSI (14)
RSI reads 34.0. That is weak but not yet in oversold territory below 30. Sellers have the edge on momentum, though there is limited room before the indicator becomes stretched. A drop under 30 near the MA120 would be the first spot where a bounce attempt makes sense.
→ Bearish momentum with little downside room left; avoid chasing shorts at current levels.
MACD
The histogram is at -80.6, below the zero line. It is contracting toward zero, which signals that bearish momentum is fading rather than accelerating. Watch for a signal-line cross. That would line up with the oversold oscillators below.
→ Still negative, but downside momentum is losing steam.
Williams %R
Williams %R sits at -78.5, right at the edge of the -80 oversold threshold. Price is closing near the bottom of its recent range. Readings this deep often come before short-term relief bounces, especially when volume-based measures disagree with price.
→ Near oversold; shorts entered here carry poor risk/reward.
ATR (14)
ATR is $426.8, or 0.52% of price. That is a compressed volatility reading, consistent with the Bollinger squeeze. Stops tighter than about 1 ATR will likely get hit by noise. The low ATR also means the eventual breakout move could be sharp relative to recent candles.
→ Use roughly $430–$650 stop buffers beyond key levels; expect expansion soon.
CCI (20)
CCI is -73.5. It is below zero, but it has not reached the -100 zone that marks an extended move. This confirms a mild bearish bias without capitulation. A push under -100 into the $81.3k area would mark a stretched condition.
→ Mildly bearish, not extreme.
Stochastic
%K is at 21.5 and %D at 16.9, with %K crossing above %D in the oversold zone. This is an early bullish cross. It often produces a bounce toward the mid-range on the 1H. It needs follow-through above 20–30 to confirm.
→ Early bounce signal; favors a retest of $82.1k–$82.3k before any fresh leg down.
Keltner Channel
The Keltner midline is $82,097.1, with the upper band at $82,919.2 and the lower band at $81,275.0. Price is below the midline, which tilts control to sellers in the short term. The lower band at $81,275 is the natural downside magnet. The upper band near $82.9k caps rebounds.
→ Range of play: $81,275–$82,919; shorts near the top, longs near the bottom.
Supporting context: ADX is 35.2, which signals an active trend. Price is sitting inside the Ichimoku cloud ($81,889.9–$82,056.2), with Tenkan still above Kijun. Price is 0.4% below the 24h VWAP ($82,325.6). Meanwhile OBV is rising (+20,766 BTC over 24h) while MFI is at 23.8. Accumulation on volume against weak price is a divergence worth respecting.

On-Chain & Positioning
Stablecoin dry powder: Stablecoin supply is contracting. That limits the fresh buying fuel available to absorb sell pressure. Combined with the US 10-year yield climbing to 5.14% (+0.75%), the liquidity backdrop is not supportive of aggressive upside. Equities offer some offset, with the Nasdaq up 1.11% and the S&P 500 up 0.41%. The dollar index is steady at 102.0.

Funding rate: 0.01%, which is neutral. There is no overheating on the long side yet.
Long/short ratio: 1.62, with 61.8% of accounts long. Retail is leaning long into a market that is slipping below its short-term averages. That creates a pool of liquidation fuel below $81k.
Open interest: Up 1.69% over 24h. New positions are being added while price softens, which raises the odds of a sharp move once the squeeze resolves.
Fear & Greed: 59 (Greed), up from 53. Sentiment is warming even as price stalls, which is a mild contrarian warning.
Headlines add to the caution. Reports describe Strategy defending $1.5B in preferred stock and stepping back from its all-in Bitcoin stance. Other coverage warns of an $80k retest tied to tech earnings and rates. The Korean premium is a modest 0.96%, so there is no sign of local FOMO.
Today’s Position Strategy
SHORT Setup (Primary)
| Entry Zone | Target 1 | Target 2 | Stop |
|---|---|---|---|
| $82,300 – $82,900 | $81,300 | $80,650 | $83,350 |
The short is primary because price is below MA20, the VWAP and the Keltner midline. Positioning is long-heavy and liquidity is tightening. Oscillators are near oversold, though, so the plan is to sell a bounce into the VWAP/MA20 to upper-Keltner zone, not to chase. The stop sits above the 48h high of $83,157.9 with an ATR-based buffer. Target 1 is the Keltner lower band, and Target 2 is the 48h swing low. If OI keeps rising without a funding spike and price reclaims $84k, the bearish thesis is fully invalidated.
LONG Setup (Secondary)
| Entry Zone | Target 1 | Target 2 | Stop |
|---|---|---|---|
| $80,700 – $81,300 | $82,100 | $82,900 | $80,150 |
This is a counter-trend scalp only. It is valid if price flushes into the Keltner lower band and the 48h low area while Stochastic and Williams %R stay oversold. Rising OBV supports the idea that dips are being bought. The stop sits roughly one ATR below the $80,622 swing low and holds above the $80k psychological floor. Targets are the Keltner midline and the upper band. Skip this trade if price loses $80k on a closing basis, since the next support is $78.5k.
Conclusion: Sell rallies into $82.3k–$82.9k with a stop above $83.35k, and only buy a flush toward $81k with tight risk; the Bollinger squeeze says a decisive move is close.
