Bitcoin is trading at $80,877.7 on the 1H chart, holding above the $80K pivot after bouncing from the 48-hour low of $79,429. Price is still capped below the 48-hour high of $81,270.6 and well under the 7-day high of $84,875.2. The market is range-bound and waiting on the Fed, with the US 10-year yield at 4.99%.
Headlines this week have gone both ways. A tech-led rally pushed BTC toward $81K, while ETF outflows and caution ahead of the Fed decision briefly sent it back under $80K. The Nasdaq gained 1.18% on the day and the dollar index edged up to 102.47.
Indicator Analysis
Moving Averages
Price sits above the MA20 ($80,711.2), MA60 ($80,262.7) and MA120 ($80,551.4). The averages are not stacked in a clean order, though. The MA20 is above the MA120, which is above the MA60, so the alignment is mixed and converging rather than trending. Holding above all three keeps the short-term bias constructive, but the tight spread means one decisive candle could flip the picture.
→ Above all MAs, but the converging structure signals a coiled range, not a confirmed uptrend.
RSI
RSI(14) reads 65.5. Buyers have the edge, but the reading is not yet overbought. There is room to push toward 70, although momentum near this zone often stalls inside a range.
→ Bullish lean with limited upside headroom before overbought territory.
MACD
The MACD histogram is at -3.0 while the MACD line stays above zero. That means the broader structure is still positive, but short-term momentum is fading and the bearish pressure is holding or strengthening. This is the main reason the bias tilts slightly short despite price sitting above the averages.
→ Momentum divergence from price: a warning sign, not yet a sell signal.
Williams %R
Williams %R at -45.8 sits in the middle of its range, neither overbought nor oversold. It shows price in the center of its recent high-low span rather than pressing either extreme.
→ Neutral, with no exhaustion signal in either direction.
ATR
ATR(14) is $262.6, or 0.32% of price, which is a quiet hourly volatility profile. ADX at 70.6 shows a strong underlying trend reading, and Bollinger width (1.29%) is expanding. A volatility pickup around FOMC is likely, so stops should be sized at roughly 2–2.5x ATR rather than tighter.
→ Low hourly volatility now, but conditions are in place for expansion; size stops accordingly.
CCI
CCI(20) at 52.7 is positive but well short of the +100 zone that marks strong trend acceleration. Price is modestly above its statistical mean.
→ Mild bullish tilt with no breakout energy yet.
Stochastic
Stochastic %K at 54.2 sits just above %D at 52.2 in mid-range. The small bullish cross gives a slight short-term upward nudge, but at this level it carries little weight.
→ Neutral-to-slightly-bullish, not actionable on its own.
Keltner Channel
Price is above the Keltner midline ($80,694.9), with the upper band at $81,159.6 and the lower band at $80,230.1. The upper band sits just below the 48h high of $81,270.6, which creates a layered resistance zone at $81,160–81,270. The lower band lines up closely with the Ichimoku cloud bottom ($80,349.8) and kijun ($80,369.5).
→ $81,160–81,270 is the near-term ceiling and $80,230–80,370 the first floor.

On-Chain & Positioning
Today’s data feed does not include fresh readings for active addresses, stablecoin supply or hashrate, so we won’t put numbers on those trends. The chart below shows the latest on-chain picture. On-chain volume flow on the hourly chart is supportive: OBV has trended higher over 24 hours (+24,355 BTC delta), pointing to accumulation. One headline also noted a whale wallet dormant for three years moving coins to an institutional desk, which is worth watching as potential supply.

- Funding rate: 0.0063%. Slightly positive, so longs are paying, but this is nowhere near overheated.
- Long/short ratio: 1.94, with 65.9% of accounts long. Retail is still crowded on the long side, which raises the risk of a flush if $80K gives way.
- Open interest: -0.72% over 24h. Leverage is being trimmed modestly rather than built up into the rally.
- Fear & Greed: 51 (Neutral), up from 48. Sentiment is balanced with no euphoria.
- Kimchi premium: 0.9% (BTC around ₩108.3M at 1,326.8 KRW/USD), which shows mild Korean retail demand and no froth.
Today’s Position Strategy
The overall read is neutral with a slight short bias, which in practice means mostly staying flat until a level breaks. The short setup is primary, but only on a confirmed loss of $80K. The long setup is secondary and activates only above $82.5K.
SHORT Setup (Primary, conditional)
| Item | Level |
|---|---|
| Trigger | 1H close below $80,000 pivot |
| Entry zone | $79,950 – $79,800 |
| Target 1 | $79,430 (48h low) |
| Target 2 | $79,180 (7d low) |
| Target 3 | $78,500 (first major support) |
| Stop / invalidation | $80,550 (back above VWAP $80,521 and the cloud) |
The fading MACD histogram, a 65.9% long-account skew and a 10-year yield near 5% heading into FOMC make a downside break the more dangerous scenario. A loss of $80K would put price below the cloud, kijun and 24h VWAP at once, which would likely force crowded longs to exit. Keep this one short-duration and take partial profits at the 48h low.
LONG Setup (Secondary, breakout only)
| Item | Level |
|---|---|
| Trigger | 1H close above $82,500 |
| Entry zone | $82,500 – $82,650 (or retest of $82,500) |
| Target 1 | $83,300 |
| Target 2 | $84,000 (breakout confirmation line) |
| Target 3 | $84,875 (7d high) |
| Stop / invalidation | $81,900 (back inside the old range) |
Price above every moving average, the Ichimoku cloud and VWAP, plus rising OBV and an ADX of 70.6, means the upside cannot be ignored. Buying in the middle of the range at $80.8K offers poor reward against the $81.2K ceiling. Waiting for $82.5K confirms that sellers above the 48h high have been absorbed, and falling open interest means a breakout there would come from fresh positioning rather than stretched leverage.
Between $80,000 and $82,500, the plan is simply to wait. Position sizing matters more than direction this week, given the Fed event risk. If you trade these setups, fee-payback signup links for BingX and Bitunix are at the end of this post.
Bottom line: stay flat inside $80K–$82.5K, short a confirmed break below $80K, and only go long on a 1H close above $82.5K.
