BTC is trading at $79,352.4 on the 1H chart after slipping back under the $80,000 handle. The 48-hour range runs from $78,210.3 to $81,953.7. Price is now pressing the lower Keltner and Bollinger bands while sitting below every major moving average. Sellers have the short-term structure, and the main question for today is whether $80,000 now acts as a ceiling.
Indicator Analysis
Moving Averages
Price sits below the MA20 ($80,281.6), MA60 ($80,637.1) and MA120 ($80,445.6). The averages are tightly bunched in a mixed order. MA20 is the lowest and MA60 the highest, which shows a market that compressed sideways before breaking lower rather than one in a long, clean downtrend. The whole cluster sits between $80,280 and $80,640, which gives a dense resistance band overhead.
→ The $80,280–$80,640 MA cluster is the first ceiling any bounce has to clear.
RSI (14)
RSI reads 46.0. That is below the 50 midline but nowhere near oversold. Bears have the edge, but the reading leaves plenty of room for further downside before any exhaustion signal appears.
→ No oversold cushion yet, so there is no RSI-based reason to fade the drop.
MACD
The MACD histogram is at -111.1 and below the zero line. Downside momentum is holding or building rather than fading, which supports the bearish read from the moving averages.
→ Momentum still favors sellers until the histogram starts shrinking toward zero.
Williams %R
Williams %R stands at -69.5. That places it in the lower half of its range but still short of the -80 oversold threshold. Price is closing near the bottom of its recent range without reaching a stretched extreme.
→ There is room for one more leg lower before oversold conditions show up.
ATR
ATR is $690.8, or 0.87% of price. That is a moderate hourly range. It means stops tighter than about $500–700 risk being clipped by normal noise. It also means a move from $80,000 to the $78,200 area is only about 2.5 ATR, which is very reachable within a session.
→ Size positions so that a stop roughly 1–1.5 ATR away fits your risk budget.
CCI (20)
CCI is at -150, well beyond the -100 line. That is a strong downside deviation from the mean. During trends, readings this deep often confirm strength rather than signal an immediate reversal, especially with ADX at 33.9 showing a strong trend.
→ CCI confirms bearish pressure, but chasing shorts at this extreme gives a poor entry.
Stochastic
%K is 30.5 and %D is 31.3. %K is slightly below %D, and both are drifting toward but not yet inside the 20 oversold zone. There is no bullish crossover yet.
→ Watch for a %K cross above %D under 20 as the first hint of a tradable bounce.
Keltner Channel
The Keltner mid is $80,385.3, the upper band $82,100.2 and the lower band $78,670.3. Price is trading near the lower band. The Bollinger lower band at $78,973.5 sits just under price, and the bands are widening at 3.26% width. That combination usually means volatility is expanding in the direction of the trend.
→ The $78,670 lower Keltner band is the natural first downside target for shorts.

On-Chain & Positioning
Today’s dataset contains no fresh readings for active addresses, stablecoin supply or hashrate, so I won’t attach numbers to them. Use the chart below for the broader on-chain trend. The supporting flow data is clear, though. OBV over 24 hours shows a delta of -48,749 BTC, which points to distribution. MFI sits at 40.6, and price is 1.14% under the 24h VWAP ($80,263.9).

- Funding rate: 0.003%, effectively neutral. Leveraged longs are not paying up heavily, but they are not being forced out either.
- Long/short ratio: 2.14, with 68.2% of accounts long. Retail is still leaning long into a falling market, which leaves fuel for a further flush.
- Open interest: -2.04% over 24h. Some positions are closing, but the crowded long ratio suggests the clean-out is not finished.
- Fear & Greed: 51 (Neutral), unchanged from the prior reading. Sentiment has not tipped into fear despite the break below $80K.
On the macro side, the Nasdaq fell 1.38% and the S&P 500 fell 0.3%. A hawkish Fed tone is weighing on risk assets. The dollar index slipped 0.26% to 101.92, which offers only mild relief. Korean demand is not overheated, with the kimchi premium at 0.86%.
Today’s Position Strategy
SHORT Setup (Primary)
| Item | Level |
|---|---|
| Entry zone | $80,000 – $80,300 |
| Target 1 | $78,670 (Keltner lower) |
| Target 2 | $77,500 (key support) |
| Invalidation / Stop | $81,400 (above $81,300 Fed-day high) |
The entry zone stacks several resistances: the $80,000 round number, the 24h VWAP at $80,264 and the MA20 at $80,282. The Ichimoku cloud and the Tenkan/Kijun lines also sit flat at $80,082 just below it. With MACD below zero, ADX at 33.9 and 68.2% of accounts still long, a bounce into this zone gives favorable risk of roughly $1,250 against about $1,500–2,650 of reward. Do not short at current prices near the lower bands. Wait for the retest.
LONG Setup (Secondary / Counter-trend)
| Item | Level |
|---|---|
| Entry zone | $77,500 – $78,000 |
| Target 1 | $79,350 |
| Target 2 | $80,000 |
| Invalidation / Stop | $76,800 (about 1 ATR below support) |
This setup only applies if price sweeps the $78,210 48h/7d low and tags $77,500 support. That would flush the crowded longs and should push CCI and Stochastic into true oversold territory. Treat it as a quick mean-reversion trade back toward the broken $80K level, not a trend reversal, and use smaller size than the short. A Stochastic bullish cross under 20 at that zone would add confirmation.
A close above $81,300 invalidates the bearish view entirely. If that happens, stand aside and reassess rather than flipping long into the MA cluster. This is market analysis, not financial advice, so size every position to your own risk tolerance. Bottom line: sell rallies into $80,000–$80,300 with a stop above $81,300, and only take longs on a flush into $77,500.
