Bitcoin Short Setup Below $76K as RSI Drops to 27

Bitcoin is trading at $75,595.5 on the 1H chart. It has slipped back under $76K after failing to hold the reclaim. Over the last 48 hours the range ran from $74,810.8 to $76,381.4. Price now sits near the lower part of that range, well below the 7-day high of $81,188.

Where price actually sits — PRICE 75,596, RSI 26.9

The backdrop is heavy. Headlines point to roughly $1.3B in ETF outflows. The dollar index is up 0.74% to 102.3, and the US 10-year yield is at 4.86%. Some analysts are now openly discussing a $60K scenario if the box range breaks.

Indicator Analysis

Moving Averages

Price is below every major average: MA20 at $75,880.0, MA60 at $76,219.9 and MA120 at $77,303.6. The averages are stacked in bearish order, with the shortest on the bottom. That is the classic structure of a market where rallies get sold. The MA20 is only about $285 above price, so it is the first ceiling any bounce will meet.

→ Trend structure is bearish, and the $75,880 MA20 is the first sell zone on a bounce.

RSI

RSI(14) reads 26.9, which is in oversold territory. This tells us sellers have pushed hard and fast. It does not tell us the selling is over, because in a trending market RSI can stay below 30 for several hours. Shorting directly into this reading carries snap-back risk.

→ Oversold, so avoid chasing shorts here and wait for a bounce to sell.

MACD

The MACD histogram is at -8.5 and below the zero line. Downside momentum is being maintained or strengthening rather than fading. There is no bullish divergence or histogram contraction yet that would hint at a turn.

→ Momentum still favors sellers, and no reversal signal is in place.

Williams %R

Williams %R is at -94.8, pinned near the bottom of its range. Price is closing almost at the lows of the lookback window, which confirms aggressive selling. It also means downside follow-through from this exact spot is statistically harder without a reset first.

→ Deeply oversold, so a technical relief bounce is likely before any next leg.

ATR

ATR(14) is $148.2, or just 0.2% of price per hour. Volatility is compressed even while the trend is strong. That lets us use relatively tight stops. A move of 2 ATR is about $300.

→ Size stops around $300 (2 ATR) beyond key levels to avoid noise.

CCI

CCI(20) is at -157.8, well beyond the -100 threshold. That marks a strong downside extension from the mean. Readings like this often precede a pullback toward the mean, which here is the $75,840 to $75,880 area.

→ Stretched to the downside, so expect mean reversion toward $75.8K-75.9K first.

Stochastic

Stochastic %K is 5.2 and %D is 17.5. %K is still below %D, so there is no bullish cross yet. Both lines are at extreme lows. A %K cross above %D would be the earliest trigger for a short-term long scalp.

→ Watch for a %K/%D cross upward as the bounce trigger.

Keltner Channel

The Keltner Channel runs from $75,541.9 to $76,136.9, with the midline at $75,839.4. Price is hugging the lower band, and the Bollinger lower band at $75,597.4 sits at almost the same spot. When price rides both lower bands in a strong trend (ADX 32.6), it often walks down the band rather than snapping back.

→ The $75,540-75,600 band floor is the near-term pivot, and a clean break opens $74.8K.

On-Chain & Positioning

Today’s dataset does not include fresh readings for active addresses, stablecoin reserves or hashrate. Use the on-chain chart below for broader context rather than as a trade trigger.

Bitcoin Short Setup Below $76K as RSI Drops to 27

  • Funding rate: 0.0052%. This is positive but mild, so there is no sign of overheated leverage paying up.
  • Long/short ratio: 3.06, with 75.3% of accounts long. Retail is heavily positioned long into a downtrend. That crowd becomes fuel if $74K gives way and stops start cascading.
  • Open interest: -0.4% over 24h. No new money is building positions, so the bounce attempts lack fresh buyers.
  • Fear & Greed: 25, Extreme Fear, down from 28. Sentiment readings this low often act as a contrarian signal, which argues for keeping shorts tight.
  • Volume and money flow: OBV is down 8,461 BTC over 24h, and MFI sits at 27.5. Distribution is outweighing accumulation.
  • Session VWAP: Price is 0.39% under the 24h VWAP of $75,894.3. Sellers control the session.
  • Korea premium: Around 0.73%, with BTC/KRW at about ₩103.4M. Local support sits near ₩101M and then the ₩100M psychological line.

Today’s Position Strategy

SHORT Setup (Primary)

Item Level
Entry zone $75,880 – $76,140 (MA20 / Kijun / VWAP / Keltner upper)
Target 1 $75,540 (Keltner lower)
Target 2 $74,810 (48h low)
Target 3 $74,000 (first major support)
Stop $76,450 (above 48h high $76,381 + buffer)

Several resistance levels stack in the entry zone:

  • MA20 at $75,880
  • Ichimoku Kijun at $75,886.2
  • 24h VWAP at $75,894.3
  • Keltner upper band at $76,136.9

Bearish MA alignment, a negative MACD and ADX at 32.6 all say this trend is real. A crowded 75% long base gives the move room to extend below $74K. The stop sits only about 2 ATR above the zone, which keeps risk small while sentiment is at Extreme Fear. If price does break $74K, the next major support is the $72K-73.2K zone. A clean reclaim of $76K would weaken the setup, and $78K is the higher resistance for any larger squeeze.

LONG Setup (Secondary, counter-trend scalp)

Item Level
Entry zone $74,830 – $75,000 (48h low retest)
Target 1 $75,540 (Keltner lower)
Target 2 $75,840 (Keltner mid / MA20)
Stop $74,510 (2 ATR below 48h low)

RSI at 26.9, Williams %R at -94.8, Stochastic %K at 5.2 and CCI at -157.8 all show an extended market. A relief bounce toward the mean is reasonable. This trade goes against the trend, so treat it as a quick scalp and take profit before the $75.9K resistance cluster. Only take it after a Stochastic cross up or a clear rejection wick at the $74.8K low. If price breaks under $74.5K, step aside: long liquidations could accelerate toward $74K and lower.

This is market analysis, not financial advice. Size positions so a stopped trade does not hurt your account.

Conclusion: sell bounces into $75,880-76,140 with a stop above $76,450, and keep any long near $74.8K strictly a quick scalp.
